YOUTH SPEAKS x FITTED x TU MAIA, TU KAHA, TU RANGATIRA (STAND PROUD, STAND TALL, STAND NATIVE)

Ittai Wong of the talented group Youth Speaks Hawai'i shot over these shots plus a video clip from their recent trip to New Zealand for the kotuia program Tu Maia, Tu Kaha, Tu Rangatira (Stand Proud, Stand Tall, Stand Native). Brother Ittai writes:
The trip was hands down the most amazing performance experience the team has ever been to. We basically stayed in these traditional hales for a week with the best cuzzos and best food. Don't get me wrong, nothing like home (no laulau and poi) but still super great time. We spent 5 days as teachers and mentors to youth 13-17 teaching them writing, editing, performance, and style. They brought the swag, and killed it. We also had one of the sickest venue spaces ever, and performed with 1814, one of the sickest NZ roots reggae band, crazy jam sesh, i spit poems over their beats, and it was a crazy experience! Our cousins across the pond serve Aloha on point. It was amazing. Jocelyn Ng, Alaka'i Kotrys, Jamaica Osorio and I (along with Lyz Soto and Uncle Jon Osorio) loved every minute of it.
Check for some shots as well as a video clip after the jump. Fast forward to about the 5:40 mark to view Youth Speaks Hawai'i. Big shout out to Ittai, Jamaica Osorio, Jocelyn Ng, Alaka'i and the rest of the Youth Speaks Hawai'i team for the love and support, and for holding it down for the State!
