OLD SOLE, NEW TRICKS: XXV
Been a fun and crazy weekend as the Dunkxchange brought out the heat... Big ups to all the heads that rolled through!
Thank you to all those who participated in my raffle for the custom Air Jordan III "Solars" I did... I've added a few photos of them below in case you missed them. Congrats to @kidd_j on winning these! Also, be sure to check the interview of local sneaker enthusiast and photographer, Jon de Leon! Have a great rest of your week! Peace!
Air Jordan III "Solar" JJ Parkz Custom
BAIT x Saucony Shadow Original "Cruel World"
BAIT continues to back their super cool idea to support "non-violent constructs," and use fabrics that aren't harmful towards animals... Really diggin' these!
Ronnie Fieg x New Balance 1600 Daytona
Awwwsetttt... Neapolitan for dat azzzzz...
Band of Outsiders x Vans Authentic
I love mis-matched pairs! Please do more!
Nike Air Max 93+ Air Huarache "Teal Pack" Size? Exclusive
These guys are pretty solid about steadily releasing good color ways in decent silhouettes. I respect.
Nike WMNS Dunk Super Sky Hi - Black
For all those ladies lovin' them Sky Hi Wedges, why not go 'super?!' Haha
Nike Lebron 11 "Dunkman"
Looks like it could be an Oregon inspired color way... Is it me, or has Nike been capitalizing off their home team lately?!
Nike Air Diamond Turf "Purple Dynasty"
I love colored patents as they're rarely used, and this shoes does a good job of flaunting just enough it to have a pinch of pizzaz.
Nike Blazer Mid PRM - Granite - Metallic Silver - White
I love it all except the chrome-ish Swoosh... Something about Melton Wool that gives me a warm, fuzzy, and clean feeling. The tongue tag is a very nice touch too...
Nike SB Dunk Low "Wool"
Another wool joint... tight.
Nike Air Force 1 Low "Brown Canvas"
I don't care for the tiny gold eyelets below the Swoosh, but the shoes are still clean. Earthy funk.
DJ Clark Kent x Nike SB P-Rod 7 Hyperfuse Max
I don't like the silhouette, but you can't be mad at the signature Clark Kent color way...
Nike Snowboarding LunarENDOR QS
I'll admit I put forth a tiny effort to picking up the Jordan Cement III inspired Snow Boots Nike released a while back, although I seldom get a chance to go on a snowboarding trip... Anyway, these are pretty cool but maybe a little over the top. Dope product video...
OLD SOLE, NEW TRICKS INTERVIEW: Jon de Leon | Enthusigrapher
Jonathan de Leon
Nickname / AKA:
Jon de Leon, JdL
Sales associate for six years. Slanging tees out of my trunk for two.
How many years I've been in an affair with sneakers:
It's been an on and off relationship for about eight years now. The past two years has been the best though.
How many pairs I own:
+/- 80 pairs
My Holy Grail:
The highly unattainable for whatever reason, Miami Night Lows. This is the shoe that sparked my interest in shoes again and have been a fan since before the hype. I see the shoe everywhere but the prices are quite high. I'm not trying to buy a DS pair for $1500+ when I know I'm going to beat the hell out of them!
Currently hunting for:
Size 10.5/11 Miami Night Lows for a decent price. :)
My most despised footwear and why:
I wouldn't say I despise any footwear. I'm a true believer of the phrase, "To each his own." I do despise attitudes tho.
If I had to choose ONE pair to wear for the rest of my life, it would be:
It's between some Roshe Runs and AM90's. If it's a pair to wear for the rest of my life, comfort > hype
Amazing sneaker-related story:
I was with the homies AJ (@ajizzalot) and Patrick (@seven7wenty) were meeting up Bigg Quan to sell a shirt or some shoes or something. We were talking story and just as usual, we ask Quan if he's selling more shoes. He says that he's about to sell a whole lot on HSS and asks us if we wanna see it. We say yeah and next thing we know, he takes out 26 pairs and laid it on the stairs next to his apartment, snaps a picture of everything in front of and us and tells us that if we want everything, we can buy everything right then and there for $600. We look at each other, start counting our money, and notice we were short (keeping in mind it's about midnight and we didn't have plans to go out anywhere anyway). We tell him that we will be back the next day and we scoop everything up. We bring it back to my house and we take the picture and look at all the shoes. We try to find a way to figure out who is getting what so the three of us pulled numbers and we all got to pick our shoes in that order. We each walked away with 6-7 pairs for a steal price.
Changes or surprises I'm hoping for in the sneaker world:
I know it will never happen, but I always think of how it would be like without any hype. Looking at all these highly anticipated shoes, I think of how crazy people can be when it comes to rare and limited sneakers. People are willing to drop racks on shoes because it's a bit more limited than others? If companies just spent a bit more money to produce more sneakers, people would be buying from the company instead of resellers and the profits would go into the company instead of other people. But if everyone has access to the same shoes, individuality will supposedly die and you'll see everyone rocking the same kicks.
A tip for my favorite footwear brand:
I don't mean to single a certain company out but I remember a Nike tweet mentioning that they had a commitment to fairness. If you want to be fair, you need to get rid of the bots. How? Captcha codes. You also want to be fair? Shoes drop online at 8am EST. That's 2am or 3am here. I don't like waking up at 1:55 to buy shoes but I do it anyway. Thanks.
Additional comments, shout-outs, big ups:
Shoutout to the Man above for everything. Thanks to JJ Parkz for the opportunity of an interview! Shout out to the HSSBU Elites for keeping it real. Also, the #SniperSix photography team, the Elite Photographers team (@ElitePhotographers on IG), HSS, SGHI, HSH. Shout out to the homies in the mainland of Chill Back N Kick It! Special thanks to Juan of Aloha Hype (@alohahype on IG) and Tasha (@LoveTasha on IG). Always appreciate your support for my tees! A question for Parkz:
JdL: With you selecting people to interview, when are you going to grace us with an interview of yourself? I'm sure others would also appreciate to hear some of your answers to these questions as well!
Parkz: Oh man... I always dreaded this question popping up... haha! I often tend to be a bit shy/quiet about myself; I enjoy the beauty and romance of mystery. Ask AlohaHype how I feel about interviews and he'll tell you... LOL. All silliness aside though, I'm sure it's bound to happen some day... Thanks for sharing your story, Jon! It was fun! Peace!
